Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, May 11: • Softball swept McDowell to complete the season sweep. Varsity picked up a huge 6-2 victory over the Trojans. Jenna Wagner got the win in the circle, pitching a complete game and striking out 12. Maddie Simmerman had four hits, including a homerun, and drove in three. Emalie Thomas and Hayley Dever each had a double. Mackenzie Moore drove in a pair, while Megan Kelly also brought in a run. JVs picked up a 11-1 win. Mady Brzezinski got the win, striking out four in four innings. The Ramblers notched 14 hits, including multi-hit games from Samantha Primavere, Addy Biel, Morgan Madura and Anna Socash. 🥎 • Boys volleyball fell to Saegertown, 3-0. 🏐

Students in Mr. Ng’s 3D Printing & Modeling classes are working on their 3D modeling projects in class this week. They are working on creating and placing furniture and landscaping around a 20’x20’ house provided to them. #Prep #3DPrint 🏡

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, May 10: • Congratulations to senior Hayden Hutchinson and sophomore Jonah Ng. They captured the D-10 AA Doubles title with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Warren’s Logan Fincher and Mark Lynds at Westwood Racquet Club. They are now Hershey bound! Congratulations Hayden and Jonah! 🎾🏆 • Baseball picked up a big sweep over Warren. Varsity rolled to a 19-1 victory. Luke Costello had two hits, including a homerun, and four RBI. Cole Constable also went deep and drove in a pair. Andrew Costello had two RBI, while Derick Friedman had a bases clearing triple. Jason Fultz struck out 10 in four innings of work. JVs grabbed a 15-3 win over the Dragons. Joe Flanagan had two hits and three RBI. Mathius Sprickman and Matthew Oblich each had two hits and a pair of RBI. Davin Friedman and Jacob Koshan produced two hits apiece. ⚾ • Girls lacrosse fell to McDowell, 11-1. 🥍

Earlier this week, senior MedPath students took a trip down to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh to view a surgery. With only two observation rooms in the country, students were able view a quadruple bypass. During the procedure, students were talked through and observed a vein being removed from both legs, all steps of the open-heart surgery, and got to ask questions with the scrub teach on the case. The surgery lasted four hours and was a success! #Prep #MedPath ⚕

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Tuesday, May 9: • Softball picked up a sweep over Meadville. Varsity won 12-2 over the Bulldogs. Megan Kelly went 3-3 and scored four times in the win. Emily Dudenhoeffer, Emalie Thomas and Maddie Simmerman all had a pair of hits. Jenna Wagner got the win in the circle, scattering six hits and striking out nine. JVs defeated the Bulldogs, 8-1. Mackenzie Moore notched eight strikeouts in the win. Mady Brzezinski had four RBI on the day. 🥎 • Boys tennis defeated Canisius (NY), 5-0. Jonah Ng, Gavin Ferretti and Aryan Noticewala all took singles. James Casella/Hayden Hutchinson and Cam Grieshaber/Colin Troutman won in doubles. 🎾 • Girls track & field dropped their meet to McDowell, 85-65. Lauren Raimy and Sarah Clark were both triple winners for the Ramblers 👟 • Boys track & field also fell in a tight race to McDowell, 77-69. Luke Brown won four events and is now the second fastest 800m runner in school history. DaMario Crawford won three events, while Michael McDonald won twice. 👟 • Baseball defeated Girard, 15-5, in a JV-only contest. Derick Friedman had a triple and scored four runs. KJ Williams was 2-3 with four RBI. The Ramblers combined for five extra base hits and nine stolen bases. ⚾ • Boys volleyball fell in five sets to Maplewood, 3-2. Jordan Haas had 10 aces, 28 assists and 16 digs. Nick Cooper had seven kills and 12 digs. Hewson Morphy had 12 kills, eight blocks and 20 digs, while Chris Morphy had seven kills and 17 digs. 🏐 • Girls lacrosse fell to Butler, 10-6. 🥍

Frank Mezler, Vice President of Moore Research and former Cathedral Prep faculty member, stopped back on campus today to speak to Mrs. Oligeri’s Marketing classes. He spoke about what market research is and what they do at Moore Research. #Prep #Marketing

‪Students in Mrs. Junk’s Forensic Science classes are working on a blood spatter analysis lab in class today. Students are testing to see how height, angle and movements change the dimensions of a blood drop. This information helps students see how forensic scientists determine the series of events at a crime scene. #Prep #Science #Forensics‬ 🩸

Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Monday, May 8: • Congratulations to Prep freshman Gavin Ferretti. He claimed the District 10 AA Singles title 6-1, 6-1, over Warren’s Logan Fincher. With his victory, he is now headed to Hershey for the state tournament. This is the second consecutive year a Rambler freshman has won the D-10 Singles tournament. Congratulations, Gavin! 🎾🏆 • Softball picked up a 17-0 Region win over Warren in a varsity-only contest. Jenna Wagner had two hits and three RBI. Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup: • Softball picked up a big sweep over Erie High. Varsity picked up a 12-2 Region win over the Royals on Senior Day. Camryn Chimera hit a two-run homerun. MacKenzie Moore also had two RBI. Emalie Thomas had three hits, while Jenna Wagner had two. JVs grabbed a 19-6 win. Emily Dudenhoeffer hit a homerun and drove in four. Moore had two hits and five RBI. Addison Baldi had a pair of hits, while Samantha Primavere drove in two and got the win in the circle. 🥎 • Boys tennis prepped for the postseason with a 5-0 win Friday at Fairview. Singles winners were Jonah Ng, Gavin Ferretti and Aryan Noticewala. James Casella/Hayden Hutchinson won in doubles, as did Cameron Grieshaber/Colin Troutman. The Ramblers then competed in the D-10 Singles tournament on Saturday. Noticewala, Casella and Grieshaber all picked up first round victories. Ferretti, Noticewala and Casella would all win their second-round matchups, while Grieshaber fell. In the quarterfinals, Ferretti and Casella won their matches to advance. Ferretti would then win his semifinal match to advanced to the AA championship. He is set to play Warren’s Logan Fincher today at Westwood Racquet Club at 3:00 p.m. 🎾 • Girls track & field competed in two events over the weekend. They finished tied for seventh in the Baldwin Invitational on Friday. In the 1600, the Ramblers had three medalists. Anne-Catherine Brown finished second, while Allison Bender took third and Sarah Teed placed sixth. Kayley McCall took sixth in the 400. Sarah Clark and Lauren Raimy finished second and fourth, respectively, in the McKinney Mile. On Saturday, the Ramblers competed in the North East Invitational. Regina Torrance took third in the 400. Grace Barrett finished fifth in the 1600. Olivia Hutchinson finished fourth in the shot put. Kaylin Laird finished tied for seventh in the high jump, while Barrett tied for fifth in the pole vault. Morgan Smith and Jessica Beveridge finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the long jump. 👟 • Boys track & field also competed over the weekend. Luke Brown took second in the McKinney Mile, breaking the school record by seven seconds. The 4x800 relay of James Burkett, Calvin Ferry, Nick Kupniewski and Noah Lata took fifth. At the North East Invitational, Roman Hamm and Devin Easter finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in the 400. The 4x100 relay took second, while the 4x400 relay took third. Ashton Sharma tied for second in the pole vault. Ashton Mountain took ninth in the long jump, while Declan Toohey finished seventh in the triple jump. 👟 • Boys lacrosse split their doubleheader with Meadville. Varsity picked up a 15-4 Region win over the Bulldogs. Charles McBrier and Lohan Mastrian each had four goals. Will McBrier had three goals. Owen Callaghan scored twice, while other goals came from Santino Montefiori and Andrew Timon. Tanner Ball made six saves on the night. JVs fell in their matchup, 9-2. 🥍 • Girls lacrosse finished 1-1 over the weekend. The Ramblers picked up a big win over Conneaut, 12-11, at Dollinger Field on Friday. Trailing by a goal with under 15 seconds to go, Cate Noble found the back of the net to force overtime. Sophia Glance then scored the game winner just one minute into OT. She led the way with four goals. Noble, Addie Stark and Rory Noonan each added a pair of goals. Niagara Millen and Theresa Giles also scored. Allison Deiner made nine saves in goal. The Ramblers fell to Fairmont (WV) on Saturday, 17-3. 🥍 • Boys baseball took down Erie High, 20-3, in a JV-only contest. Nine players combined for 14 hits. Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Thursday, May 4: • Girls lacrosse picked up a 14-8 win over Fairview at Dollinger Field. The Ramblers got hat tricks from Niagara Millen, Sophia Glance and Cate Noble. Addie Stark added a pair of tallies as well. Taylor Kruszewski, Addy Ramsey and Theresa Giles added a goal each, with Giles adding five ground balls and five draws won in the contest. 🥍

Nick Cooper had nine kills and five digs. Hewson Morphy had 10 kills and six blocks. Anthony Frisina had 10 kills. Chris Morphy had six kills, while Ian Irvin had five digs. 🏐 • Boys tennis blanked blanked Mercyhurst, 5-0. Gavin Ferretti, Cameron Grieshaber and Colin Troutman won in singles. Hayden Hutchinson/Logan Catrabone and Michael Ferraro/Paul Flick won in doubles. 🎾 • Baseball picked up an 11-1 Region win over Corry in a varsity-only matchup. Andrew Costello and Jason Fultz each hit homeruns and had two hits apiece. Fultz had three RBI, while Costello had two. It backed the pitching of Carson Phillips, who went four scoreless innings and struck out nine. ⚾ • NEWS: Congratulations to Prep senior Jacob Sambuchino.
