
Cathedral Prep Weekend Athletics Roundup:
• Congratulations to Ted Terrizzi. He won the D-10 AA Diving title at McDowell Intermediate High School. Brother Ed Terrizzi finished fifth overall, while sister Ange Terrizzi finished sixth in the girls’ competition. Ted is headed to Lewisburg for the PIAA Championship. 💦
• Wrestling captured the D-10 AA Individual title over the weekend at Sharon. Brandon Byrd (160) won his class. Keagan Oler (133), Jaden Crockett (152), and Bo Martucci (189) all finished second. Kamdyn Borrero (127) and Sam Harrington (172) finished third. Davion Edmond (121) and Omar Arrington (215) took fourth. Mason Gregor (107) finished fifth, while Gabe Dorman (145) took sixth. Aiden Carter (114) took eighth. All 11 wrestlers advanced to Regionals next weekend. 🤼♂️
• Boys basketball won their quarterfinal matchup against Farrell, 83-47. Nando Mirarchi and Michael Thompson each had 17 points. Ahmari Horton finished 16 points. 🏀
• Indoor track competed in the NEOITC All-Star Meet at SPIRE. Allison Bender won the 1600. Fina Bannister took third in the 800. Zita Schiedel finished eighth in the 3200. 👟




Outreach Club and Book Club teamed up this week to host a book drive. Students were able to donate any youth or young adult books. These books will be distributed to others in our district to support the Pennsylvania Youth Reading Initiative! #Prep #Service #Community 📚

• Varsity hockey picked up a 4-1 victory over Hempfield. Ethan Cunningham scored a pair of goals, while Tucker Kinnear and Chris Bruschi also lit the lamp. Mathius Sprickman had a pair of assists. Charlie McBrier, Rylan Sorge, Jared Montagna, and Kinnear also had assists. Ian Brown made 29 saves in goal. 🏒


Ms. Falk’s Honors Theology II students are drawing/building Herod’s Temple, the temple where Jesus would have worshiped in Jerusalem. They studied the history and construction of the temple and who was allowed in the various parts of it. They were then given a list of areas of the temple that had to be included in their drawing/structure. #Prep #Theology











Cathedral Prep Athletics Roundup for Wednesday, February 19:
• Bowling rolled to a 21-7 win over Mercyhurst Prep on Senior Night. Seniors Ava Hensler, Piper Holland, and Olivia Hutchinson all earned points for the Ramblers. Hensler had the high game of 213 and high series with a 577. The team finished the season in second place with a record of 6-3. Hensler will represent the team at regionals in Pittsburgh on February 28. 🎳
• LATE WEEKEND SCORES: JV hockey participated in the Buckeye Classic Tournament last weekend. They picked up a 4-2 win over Belle Tire Prep in their first game. Maddox Maciulewicz, Kellan McGuire, Marco Vavala, and Logan Morris all scored. Morris also had a pair of assists, while Henry Fritts had an assist. They defeated Navy Youth in their second game, 4-1. Kellan McGuire, Maciulewicz, Austin Edmonds, and Fritts scored. Fritts and Ethan Pfleger had assists. They’d win their third game, 3-1, over the Westerville Warcats. Maciulewicz scored a pair of goals. Morris also scored, while Vavala had an assist. They Ramblers would fall in the championship game, 6-4, to the Mid-State Mustangs. Austin Edmonds scored a pair of goals. Garrett Schwartz and Fritts also scored. Vavala, Morris and Pfleger had assists. 🏒


Members of Outreach Club were able to attend the Rotary Club of Erie's weekly meeting today to share club updates. We are grateful for our connection with Rotary Club of Erie and the donation that they provided to help us complete our Operation Christmas Child service project in November. Their donation allowed us to ship the 50 boxes for children in need! #Prep #Outreach

• LATE MONDAY SCORE: Varsity hockey picked up a 6-2 win in the “Battle of the Barn” against McDowell on Senior Night. Mathius Sprickman and Tucker Kinnear each scored twice, while Rylan Sorge and Hyatt Hetz also scored. Chris Bruschi, Ethan Cunningham, Charlie McBrier, Brady Sack, and Sprickman had assists. Cathedral Prep Holiday Weekend Athletics Roundup:
• Wrestling came away with the District 10 AA Section 1 title. They bested second-place Corry by 30 points. Kamdyn Borrero (127), Jaden Crockett (152), Brandon Byrd (160), and Bo Martucci (189) won their classes. Davion Edmond (121), Gabe Dorman (145), and Sam Harrington (172) took second. Omar Harrington (215) finished third, while Andrew Gammon (139) and Max Spaulding (285) took fourth. Aiden Carter (114) finished fifth, while Mason Gregor (107) and Keagan Oler (133) finished sixth. They all qualified for Districts next weekend. 🤼♂️
• Boys basketball split their doubleheader with Erie High. Varsity earned a co-Region title with a 66-53 win over the Royals on Senior Night. Max Wallace had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Nando Mirarchi also had 16 points, while Cormac Thunell and Michael Thompson each had 11 points. JV dropped their matchup, 43-40. Marco Pfister scored 16 points to lead the way. 🏀
• PRESEASON: Boys lacrosse competed in the Pineapple Cup in Pittsburg. They finished the tournament with a 3-2 record. They fell in the championship game to Indiana, 5-4. Ian Brown was named Team MVP with his performance in goal throughout the tournament. 🥍



Yesterday, 100 Ramblers stayed after school to take part in the first Junior Achievement meeting of the year. The course is being taught by Michael Parsons ’08 of LPL Financial. The theme this year is “Financial Literacy,” and it is designed to teach students valuable investing, saving, and career skills to prepare them for a successful future. • Girls swimming and diving completed the season sweep of McDowell, 114-71. Maria Costa and Jaslene Cage each won four events. Ellie Natemeier and Kendal Johnston were triple winners. 🏊♀️
• Boys swimming and diving completed the sweep of McDowell, 92-91. Thomas Fortin won the 200 free. Jack Raimy took the 100 free, while Owen Carson won the 100 fly. 🏊♂️
• Girls basketball split their doubleheader against Erie High. Varsity fell to the Royals, 45-40. Jessica Beveridge had 13 points to lead the way. Seana Thrower finished with 11 points, while Addie Biel chipped in 10 points. JV picked up a 54-17 victory. Allie Adams led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points. Congratulations to Rylan Sorge ’25. He has committed to play lacrosse next season at John Carroll University. Sorge helped lead the Ramblers to their fourth straight District 10 title last year, scoring the game-winning goal in the championship game. • Boys swimming and diving also completed a season sweep of Meadville, 133-34. Jack Raimy won four events. Adam Clark and Callum Snider-Mills each took three events. JD Cullen won a pair of events, while Ed Terrizzi won diving. 🏊♂️
• Girls basketball swept Warren. Varsity clinched their 20th consecutive Region title with a 46-31 win over the Dragons. Addie Biel led the way with 33 points and 13 rebounds. Seana Thrower had seven assists. JV won their matchup, 43-8. Allie Adams finished with 17 points, while Kendyll Steves finished with 11 points. 🏀

• Wrestling continued competition in the PIAA team tournament in Altoona. The Ramblers fell in their quarterfinal match against Bishop McDevitt, 39-23. Sam Harrington (172) and Max Spaulding (285) had falls. Bo Martucci (189) won by technical fall, while Keagan Oler (133) won by decision. They would bounce back in their consolation match against Burrell, 42-18. Mason Gregor (107), Kamdyn Borrero (127), Andrew Gammon (145), and Brandon Byrd (160) all had pins. Aiden Carter (114), Oler, and Harrington won by technical fall, while Spaulding picked up a win by decision. They would then win their consolation semifinal match against Berks Catholic, 29-20. Spaulding won by fall. Borrero and Jaden Crockett (152) won by major decision. Gregor, Oler, Byrd, Martucci, and Omar Arrington (215) won by decision. They closed out the tournament with a fourth-place finish after falling to Bishop McDevitt in the consolation final, 44-14. • Girls basketball picked up a big sweep over North Allegheny. Varsity defeated the Tigers, 46-42, behind 16 points and 15 rebounds from Addie Biel. Seana Thrower scored 15 points, while Jessica Beveridge finished with 13 points. JV rolled in their matchup, 61-30. Allie Adams scored 24 points and hit six three-pointers. Brooklyn DiRaimo finished with eight points. 🏀
