The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) honors festival season continued with District 2 Choir! Five representatives from Prep went to compete at this year’s District Choir Festival, hosted at Allegheny College, to learn from Dr. Christopher Kiver, director of choirs at Penn State University – University Park. All students prepared and auditioned on a challenging folder of music from various eras, composers, and languages. The top ten singers in each section have earned the opportunity to advance to Region Choir through a competitive audition process at the festival. Regions this year is being held at Oil City in March.
Congratulations to Alex Junkin ’24, Rob Socash ’25, Emma Kill ’24, Bella Speros ’26 and, Chris Reitz ’25, who performed beautifully at a high-level last Friday. Also, congratulations to the following who successfully auditioned and advanced on to Regions: Bella Speros ’26, Alex Junkin ’24 and Chris Reitz ’25. They are currently preparing another folder of music for their audition at the Region level to move on to States. We are all incredibly proud of these students’ hard work and dedication, whether they advanced or not. Choral singing is an incredibly vulnerable and challenging art, and to be chosen to represent Prep is a great honor! 🎶
